Using the Library

The Library contains all the objects that can be added to a stage, such as targets, props, and TruTargets (people). Objects are grouped in folders according to object type. These may be further segmented by additional folders. For example, props objects are divided into multiple folders based on subject matter.

Working with the Library

When the Library is opened, it shows all objects by type: 3D Targets, Flat Targets, Groups, Lights, etc.

Once a category is selected, you will see icons representing the various folders (if any) and objects for the selected type. For example, selecting the Props folder will show several sub-folders for different props grouped by subject matter: Architectural, Assemblies, Boxes and Crates, etc. Clicking the Vehicles folder will show thumbnail previews for the various vehicles.

Each thumbnail has a heart (favorite) icon at the top right and the name of the object at the bottom. To load a single object, left-click the preview image and drag it into the scene.

Multidrop Feature

Rather than adding multiple objects by continuously dragging them into the scene, you can instead use a multidrop feature. With multidrop, each time you click in the viewport, you add the selected object to your scene. This can be useful when populating an area with several identical assets.

To use the multidrop feature:

  • Move the cursor over an object and click and release the left mouse button.  A yellow selection outline will appear around the object letting you know that you are in multidrop mode.

  • Move the cursor over to the scene and click the location where you want to add the object. Continue to left-click in the scene to add more copies of the object.

  • To stop adding objects, click the right mouse button.

Each time you add a new object, it will be sequentially numbered based on what already exists in the stage.  For example, if there is already an Ivan target in the stage, dropping additional targets would create objects with the names “Ivan 02”, “Ivan 03”, “Ivan 04”, and so on.

Breadcrumb Trail

At the top of the library window is a breadcrumb trail. You can click anywhere on the trail to instantly jump to another area of the library. For example, if the trail shows Home / Props / Vehicles, clicking on the word “Props” would instantly go back to all props. Clicking Home will go back to the top of the library.

You can create your own sub-folders using the Save to Library option in the Edit menu or Course Explorer.

Favorites

With the favorites feature, you can create shortcuts to any object in the library for quick access. To mark an object as a favorite, click the heart icon at the top right corner of the object. Once an object is marked as a favorite, the heart icon will turn solid.

To view your favorites, click the heart icon at the top right side of the Library title bar.

The favorites you see will depend on where you are in the library. For example, if you are in the Home section of the library, all of your favorites, no matter the type, will appear. If you are in an object folder, only the favorites for that category of objects will appear. For example, clicking the heart icon while in the TruTargets category will show all favored TruTargets.

To unfavorite an object, click the solid heart icon. The icon will become outlined, and the item will be unfavorited.

Example Search

You can also perform a text search to rapidly find objects. In the bottom search bar, type the characters you wish to search for. For example, typing in the word “door” will return any object in the library that has the word door anywhere in its name.

Search is dependent on where you are in the library. For example, if you are in the Flat Targets folder, only flat targets with the word door would appear.
