Working with the Library

Objects populate the stages and courses in DART MAX. They include flat targets, 3D reactive targets, AI Targets™, video targets, 3D characters (known as TruTargets™), props, lights, cameras (called viewpoints), and groups, which are combinations of two or more objects. These, and other objects, are found in the library.

Open the library by clicking the side panel menu icon and selecting Library. When the library is first opened, you will see folders for each object type. Open a folder by clicking on it. You will see some combination of objects and sub-folders.

The Navigation Menu

At the top of the library is the navigation menu, sometimes referred to as a breadcrumb trail.

In this example, we are currently in the B-21 folder. Clicking Home or Flat Targets will instantly bring us to that folder. This provides a quick way to move around folders in the library.

The Search Bar

At the bottom of the library is the search bar. If you wanted to access door props, you could click on the Props folder, the Architectural subfolder, and then scroll down until you found the doors. A faster way is to type “door” in the search bar as shown below.

An added benefit of using this method is that it will find all doors - not just the ones in the Props/Architectural folder. In the example above, the search has found doors in Props/Architectural folder AND the Props/Exterior Accessories folder.

Searching isn't limited to a single object type. If I type “bi” while in the Home folder, search will return any object with the letters “bi” in the name.

If I were to clear the search by clicking the X icon on the right side of the search bar, select the Props folder, and search for “bi” again, the search would return only objects under the props folder. Search will find matching objects in your current folder and any folders inside it.

Favorites

You can also tag frequently used objects by clicking the heart icon in the top right corner of an object’s preview image. Once tagged, they can be easily found by clicking the heart icon at the top-right corner of the library. Favorites work like search. If you’re in the Props folder and click the favorites icon, only objects in the Props folder, and any folders inside it, will appear. If you want to see all favorited objects no matter what folder they are in, make sure you are in the Home folder before clicking the favorites icon.

Drag and Drop

Moving object from the library to your stage is as easy as clickin on the object you want to add, holding the mouse button down, dragging it to the viewport. Once you’ve positioned the object, release the mouse button to drop it into your scene.

Multi-Drop Mode

If you want to create multiple copies of an object, left-click an object and release the mouse button. A yellow box will appear around the object letting you know you are in multi-drop mode. Move your cursor into the viewport and left-click the mouse. Each time you do, a new object will be dropped into the scene. When you’re finished, right-click the mouse to exit multi-drop mode.
