Setup Overview
The Setup panel contain controls for preparing the DART MAX system for use. These controls are used to calibrate (or align) the system projector and camera for accurate shot tracking.
The Command Panel
The command panel includes all the controls needed to calibrate the system.
Camera Gain
Changes the gain setting of the upgraded OptiTrack Slimx13 camera. We believe valid settings are 1-8. Gain provides a rough brightness setting. Finer adjustments are done with the Image Brightness setting below.
The OptiTrack Slimx 13camera has a resolution of 1280 x 1024 pixels.
Image Brightness
The Image Brightness slider allows the user to adjust the brightness/exposure setting of the OptiTrack Slim 3U camera. The slider’s range is 0-100%. The best setting will help eliminate room light without affecting the detection of laser light.
The OptiTrack Slim 3U camera has a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels.
Area of Interest
Depending on the position of the camera, it may capture information outside the projected image, including walls, windows, doorways, ceiling lights, etc. - all of which could compromise calibration. The Area of Interest allows the camera to ignore anything outside the screen area.
When the Area of Interest control is On, the computer will show the camera adjustment image which is designed to show the full extent of the projected screen. The viewport will show what the camera sees and will generate a box with eight adjustment handles similar to the image below. The user moves the handles with the mouse until the area of interest is defined.
Grid Size
The system will project a grid of dots on the screen to calculate screen size and camera distortion. There are two options, 8x8 and 16x16. You should try to use 16x16 when possible, but in case the lighting conditions in your training room are not ideal, you may need to use 8x8.
Run Calibration
Once the camera has been positioned and adjusted, and an area of interest defined, and a grid size set, the user can calibrate the system. This is the process of syncing the camera and projected image so that shots can be accurately tracked.
Clicking the Run Calibration icon will initiate the process, which should be automatic. The computer will change the display as needed and when the process is complete, it will engage the IR cutoff filter inside the OptiTrack camera.
The title of the control will change based on the state of calibration.
Calibrated if the calibration process has been successfully run.
Not Calibrated if there is no calibration information stored or calibration was unsuccessful.
Working if the calibration process is running.
